Apple iPhone 4S beats Samsung Galaxy S III in sales.

Apple iPhone 4S has beaten Samsung Galaxy S III, which was launched over six months later, in worldwide sales in the fourth quarter of last year. According to a report by research Strategy Analytics, iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S took the top two spots in sales list, while Galaxy S III grabbed the third place.
iPhone 4S, which was launched in
October 2011, sold 17.4 million units,
whereas Galaxy S III, rolled out in May
2012, clocked 15.4 million. While the
former took 8% of the market share in
the period, the latter accounted for 7.1%
. In the last quarter of 2012, iPhone 5
clocked 27.4 million in worldwide sales
or 12.6% of the market. The
smartphone, which hit the stores in
September, sold 6 million units in the
third quarter. The three smartphones
together took up 27.7% of the market,
as compared to 23.3% in the preceding
quarter.
According to Strategy Analytics, all
others smartphones notched up 156.8
million in sales volume during the same
period, as compared to 132.6 million
units in the July to September quarter.
Smartphone sales rose across the world to 217 million units in the October to December period, as compared to 172.8 million in the previous quarter.
